Why a dedicated planner
The plan is the contract between the operator and the airframe.
Generic ground-control software treats the aircraft as the unit of work. Mission Planner treats the mission as the unit of work — sensor coverage, energy budget, comms windows, and after-action expectations are all checked before the airframe ever leaves the ground.
When the plan is signed off, it pushes simultaneously to the autopilot and to ISR C2 — so the analyst on console sees exactly what the aircraft is flying, not a separate ideal-world chart.
